At this summer’s Kaleidoscope Festival at Alexandra Palace, with unbeatable views of the London skyline, we set up an Octopus Energy experience that brought wind power to life!
We brought along “Gusty Spinfield,” our pop-up turbine, and set her up right on the Palace grounds to showcase just how quickly wind turbines can be installed wherever they’re needed. Plus, we were thrilled to have some lucky Octopus Fan Club members join us, who won their tickets through our summer competition!
Festival-goers also got a workout on our giant turbine wheel, where their running speed powered clapping from nearby speakers—the faster they ran, the louder the cheers!
For some extra fun, our VR experience let people see what a full-sized turbine might look like against London’s skyline, creating a futuristic view of clean energy in the city. And for our younger green champions, arts and crafts blankets were buzzing with kids decorating their very own wind turbine designs.
We loved chatting with everyone about the Octopus Fan Club and the power of onshore wind. By the end of the day, a whole crowd of new fans signed up to support local, renewable energy.

We saw some incredible turbine designs from our local young artists—‘Gusty Spinfield’ looked positively tame in pink and purple compared to their wild and wonderful creations!
